We are passionate about
taking care of your dog!

Experts you can trust: The Canine Fitness Centre was established in 2001 and is one of Queensland’s longest-established canine hydrotherapy and rehabilitation facilities. We are the only facility operating multiple underwater treadmills and an above-ground heated swimming pool to help dogs recover from injury, rebuild strength, and move better through specialised hydrotherapy.

Our lead canine hydrotherapist provides knowledgeable, evidence-based care. We understand that no two dogs are the same; that’s why we individualise every session to meet your pet’s specific orthopaedic or neurological needs.

Our Philosophy: We believe in a “science-first” approach. Injury or degenerative disease often creates a cycle of muscle atrophy and joint stiffness. Our goal is to interrupt this cycle using the physical properties of water – thermal effects, hydrostatic pressure, and resistance – to restore functional movement and long-term comfort.

State-of-the-Art Facilities: Our centre features three purpose-built Aqua-Treadmills and a heated hydrotherapy pool. We prioritise hygiene and safety, using ozone sanitisation and deep-bed filtration systems. The same standards used in human hydrotherapy.

Meet Tandy Giesenberg

The Canine Fitness Centre is a specialised canine hydrotherapy centre dedicated to helping dogs move better, feel stronger, and live happier lives.

Established in 2001 by my mum, the business was born from a passion for dog agility and a clear need for proper rehabilitation options for injured sporting dogs. At the time, there were very few rehab services available. After extensive research, the very first aquatreadmill was imported from overseas and a small circular pool was installed, laying the foundation for what would become a trusted name in canine rehabilitation.

Over the years, The Canine Fitness Centre has evolved through continuous upgrades and expansion. Today, we proudly operate three aquatreadmills and an above-ground pool, allowing us to tailor programs to suit dogs of all ages, breeds, and abilities, from post-surgical rehabilitation and injury recovery to fitness, conditioning, and senior mobility support.

My journey with the business began while I was working full-time as a Primary School teacher. On weekends and school holidays, I worked alongside Mum, learning the hands-on skills of canine hydrotherapy and essentially completing my apprenticeship under her guidance. In 2021, when my parents sold their property and Mum was ready to retire (and travel the world!), I made the decision to leave teaching and move The Canine Fitness Centre to my own property.

Four years on, I haven’t looked back. What started as a family passion continues to grow from strength to strength. Every day, I have the privilege of working with incredible dogs and witnessing the life-changing benefits hydrotherapy provides, whether it’s rebuilding strength after surgery, improving mobility in senior dogs, supporting sporting performance, or simply helping a much-loved family pet feel comfortable again. At The Canine Fitness Centre, we don’t just provide hydrotherapy, we provide care, experience, and a genuine passion for helping dogs thrive.
